Apple india store physical store launch delayed again in India and no further information about the timeline

Apple India Store has yet again delayed the plans to launch the first official retail store in India. Tim Cook, the Apple CEO had said that the physical stores would be open in India in the starting of 2021. A report from NDTV has confirmed that those plans have also been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. By the way, Apple had launched its official online store in India last year, in September 2020.

Apple told NDTV that it has postponed the launch of its first physical store in the country. They didn’t give any specific details about the timeline of the stores opening in the country. A report in The Indian Express confirmed the same thing.

There were news about Apple’s offline stores coming to India since the past two years. Last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company plans to set up its native presence in the Indian retail sector. As of now, the company sells its devices through distributors who are a franchise retail network. Apple wants to penetrate deeper into the market by establishing its own physical stores.

Tim Cook told Apple investors in July that the company has doubled its business in India. Cook had shown optimism in continuing the growth with physical stores as well.

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted Apple’s plans in India. Cook had also recently said that there was a strong growth in emerging markets like India.
